Ivett & Reed were approved as a Lapitec fabricator in December 2014.
Lapitec is a supreme example of a construction material developed by employing advanced scientific manufacturing techniques (patented).
This is not a natural stone, nor an engineered quartz, ceramic or porcelain, but a completely unique product now classified as a sintered stone.
Sintering is a method used to create objects from powders. It is based on atomic diffusion. Diffusion occurs in any material above absolute zero, but it occurs much faster at higher temperatures.
Lapitec is the pioneer and first company in the world producing large size “full body” sintered stone slabs, which combine the strength of ceramic with the properties, elegance, natural colours and the typical finishes of natural stone.
This is an “eternal” product which lasts the effects of time and weather. It is resistant to acids and solvents, it is hard wearing, impact resistant, non-flammable, thaw and frost resistant and insensitive to UV rays. The Lapitec surfaces are pore free and hence do not absorb, therefore are stain free, hygienic, easy to clean and bacteria and mould repellent.
The properties of Lapitec mean that it can be used for almost any surface application, including:
- Kitchen worktops
- Bathrooms
- Fireplaces
- Internal cladding & flooring
- External cladding
- External paving
Lapitec is manufactured in large slabs (3400 x 1500mm), initially supplied at 12mm thick, with 20mm and 30mm thicknesses to follow. Twelve colours are available, each in four finishes ranging from smooth (polished/honed) to textured.
