The Duo fireplace design demonstrates some of the signiciant advantantages of sintered stone. Due to its incredible resistance to heat, both the face of the mantel and the hearth have been cut in one piece, where joints would normally be required in natural stone to prevent cracking. Light coloured natural stones are not normally recommended for use with a solid fuel appliance due to the risk of staining from ash and soot, but the easy maintenance of sintered products such as the Lapitec used here makes it an ideal choice as a hearth material.
The Duo fireplace is cut, finished and assembled in our Cambridge workshops, skilfully combining renowned materials with traditional craftsmanship.
The fireplace surround face is in Lapitec Arabescato Corallo Lux with the sides and top in Lapitec Nero Antracite Satin.
The boxed hearth is also in Arabescato Corallo Lux with an inset strip in Nero Antracite Satin.
Also shown is a Barbas Unilux-6 52 woodburning cassette stove.
