Looking to replace their fairly basic brick fireplace and open fire, our client paid our showroom a visit to view our range of hand carved stone fireplaces.
They chose one of our own designs, the Macfarlane, in the classic Portland Stone from Dorset. All of our own fireplace designs are made to order in our Cambridge workshops, from one of five English limestones.
As a contrast to the pale Portland Stone, our client chose the striking Galaxy Black granite for their hearth and infill. The fireplace was completed with a Jetmaster 18i inset stove, which was rated the most efficient inset stove in the UK by the HETAS Guide 2013.
This complete installation was carried out by Ivett & Reed using our own HETAS Registered Installers, and involved the following:
- Removal of existing fireplace and solid fuel open fire
- Relining the chimney using 904 grade flexible multi-fuel flue liner
- Fitting the new hearth and infill in Galaxy Black granite
- Installation of the Jetmaster 18i cassette stove, connected to the relined flue
- Fitting the Portland stone surround
The end result gave our customer not only a highly efficient wood burning appliance in their living room, but also a stylish and timeless stone fireplace design.
